"Jesus
did not endure the cross that the sins of humanity might be forgiven;
nor to pacify an angry God; this act alone did not expiate sin.
The lesson of the crucifixion is that it symbolized that which, through
mental activity, had already been accomplished; the crossing out of the
old man, the false-self. Jesus passed through the crucifixion that
he might prove the unreality of death and the reality of life eternal.
He said to his disciples, "Greater love hath no man than this, that
he lay down his life for a friend;"
and proved to them through the resurrection that what they had believed
(laying one's life down) was in reality not laying it down as the world
sees it, but was living on the spiritual plane. Vicarious
atonement, as it is generally understood, leaves the impression that God
not only becomes angry, but is revengeful, vicious, unreasonable.
Jesus made no such atonement; he understood his Divine relationship in
the highest; he became at one with love, joy, peace, purity, by not
recognizing (power in) hate, sorrow, discord and impurity; thus he came
into at-one-ment with the All Good."
" - Isidora H. Minard, "Prove Me Now"
(1903)
We can
thank Isidora Minard for giving us a different idea than the one that is
widely held in the religion that teaches about the Master Mind Jesus.
And, she gave us this idea 110 years ago. Yet, this differing idea
regarding Jesus "dying for our sins" has had little effect on
those who continue to believe and to teach that he did just that ...
died for the sins of mankind. Even though all evidence points to
the false-ness of this idea, people continue to believe it ... or at
least say they do. As we know, the only "truth" we will
ever know is that which we "experience" ... so to say we
"believe" something and truly believe it may be very different
when our beliefs are put to the test. But, my point in this is not
to shake up the fundamentalist Christians ... which I doubt seriously
would ever listen to me on the radio or read these weekly messages ...
but to draw our mind and thoughts to the fact that even that which
defies intelligence, can be held as true for those who live with a mind
filled with worry, doubts and fears. And this includes far too
many people in the world in which we live.
People worry about making the
next mortgage payment, getting the promotion at work, finding their soul
mate ... or worry that they will never experience the desires of their
hearts. There are those who have faith and those who doubt the
faith they have. And there are those who live in fear ... fear of
the unknown, fear of death, fear of the things created in their
imaginations, etc. Dr. O. C. Smith stated, "fear
is the child of an undeveloped consciousness." But,
most of those who allow fear-based ideas and thoughts to dominate their
consciousness, would probably not accept this. Our spiritual
nature calls us to put away childish things and use our inherent wisdom
to think things through to an intelligent conclusion. And when we
do, we shall find a way in which to transcend our worry, our doubts and
our fears.
Often people will tell me that it
is difficult and challenging to change their habitual thinking;
especially worry. Yet, it is not as difficult as most believe it
to be. It actually is simple. It is one of those very simple
things that seems too good to be true for most people. It is to
turn within in the silence ... and know that when we "turn
within" we are turning within to that
Something that is always available to us ... the Power, the
Intelligence and the Spirit of G-d Itself. This "turning
within" has given CEOs of some of the largest corporations
in the world the awareness of the right ideas to prosper their
companies, to turn them from failure to success. This
"turning within" has transcended the "writer's
block" and enabled literary genius to be expressed through the mind
of authors of some of the greatest books ever written. This
"turning within" has helped people transcend depression and
find that something that gives them a feeling of being alive to life
with excitement and hope. I am reminded of the words from the old
spiritual song, "there is no secret what G-d
can do" [Mahalia Jackson] ... but it is up to us to seek
G-d. The Master Mind Jesus revealed to us that "the
Father is a Spirit, and must be worshiped (recognized) in spirit and in
truth". The spirit in which we approach this
Intelligence that created all that we see, will determine what we
receive from It ... in secret ... that is, in the realm of Mind, our
mind mingling with the Mind of G-d, as One Mind ... think Mind as
Spirit, Intelligence.
Isidora Minard writes
... in 1903, once again, 110 years ago: "Epictetus
(Greek sage and stoic philosopher) tells us that, "Men are not
influenced by things, but by their thoughts about things."
Man's belief in sickness, dis-ease, and poverty, allows these
unrealities, or false thoughts, to dominate or overrule the Truth.
He is overpowered by his environment of inharmony, instead of using his
God-given power to set his mental realm in at-one-ment with all that is
true, pure, and holy or in at-one-ment with Truth. The work or
mission of man (generic) is to get rid of his belief in two powers, one
that lifts up, while the other constantly endeavors to drag down.
To cast out or master the seeming evil we must look at good only; the
false self must become a servant to the true self, that is, Spirit must
govern body, instead of the body's attempting the impossible task of
ruling Spirit. The body is the temple of the living soul ... of
Spirit. Fill the soul so full of Good and Truth that there is no
room for un-right-ness."
To transcend
worry-doubts-fears, we "must" foster, nurture and establish in
our mind that that which is real cannot be overpowered as it is G-d and
therefore changeless. Can we overpower gravity? No, we
can't. We can only work with it according to its nature or natural
laws. And this we can learn to do with the nature of Good or G-d.
We can learn to work within the Divine Spiritual laws that are
Omnipresent and Omnipotent throughout the universe in which we exist.
AND
SO IT IS!
Keep
the
faith!
