Most of us have seen articles
about people visiting Heaven or have seen movies about people
visiting Heaven. Religion has made Heaven into a fantasy land
where we all meet up with our loved ones and live a life of
peace throughout eternity. This hope for Heaven and fear of Hell
has kept religions alive and well financed for centuries.
Whenever we have events that threaten people's lives; i.e. 9/11
in the United States, the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, religions
pump up their scare tactics and false promises of eternal life
in Heaven. Obviously it works for them.
Don't get me wrong, I believe
in life after death. I believe that our soul is eternal,
therefore we transition into New Life once we exit this
one. I don't believe we will know those we have known in this
life as they too will be living a New Life. I do believe
however, that we may find ourselves attracted to others who
perhaps were also in this life experience with us in a personal
or intimate way. Since we don't remember our previous life from
this one, I would assume we won't remember this life either. In
the Gospels, it is attributed to Jesus that there is no marriage
in the after life, which is interesting, but also disheartening
for those who believe they will be united once again with their
beloveds.
Robert Collier in his
book "The Law of the Higher Potential" gives us a more honest
and true version of Heaven: That word "Heaven" is perhaps
the most misunderstood word in the Bible. In the original Greek
text, the word used for "Heaven" is OURANOS, which, translated
literally, means EXPANSION. And what is expansion? It is
increasing, spreading out, multiplying, is it not? "See ye first
the Kingdom of EXPANSION, and all these things shall be added
unto you." Seek a place or a state of being where you can
expand, grow, increase, multiply, bring forth fruit.
But we don't need to seek
such a place, for Jesus assured us that the Kingdom of Heaven is
already within us. We must therefore look within ourselves for
this faculty of expansion.
Now what,
within us, has unlimited power to expand? Our muscles are
elastic, our lungs and many of our organs can be expanded to an
extent, but none of them can expand greatly without harm to
itself and to the body.
The only thing in this body of ours that can expand without
limits is our MIND, our imaging faculties. So Jesus' advice
might be paraphrased - "See ye first the Kingdom of Mind, of
imagery, and all these things shall be added unto you."<>
Everything in Nature
holds the ability for expansion. We plant a seed, we get
multiples usually of what it is that we are planting. A fruit
tree seldom only produces only one piece of fruit. Human beings
are also part of this expansion, birthing children from a
substance not unlike the seeds of animals and plants. Expansion
of our mind shall produce power. Once we have realized this
power, we must use it. It is the only power that we shall truly
ever possess that will expand our good.
