The Way to a Wonderful Life Message for October 25, 2015

"... the greater your sense of God, the greater your life will be.  Consistent repetition of a Spiritual Idea eventually produces a demonstration (result).  God responds to man, as man thinks in terms of God.” - Dr. Raymond Charles Barker, Treatment, What It Is And How To Do It

On page 7 of his instructional booklet on Spiritual Treatment, Dr. Raymond Charles Barker instructs us to "make statements about God."  This may seem simple, even silly to some people, but by and large most people rarely if ever truly define in words what they believe about G-d.  And if they do, most will rely upon traditional definitions or definitions handed down to them by someone else.  The Infinite cannot be totally identified by the human mind but we can find within ourselves a progression or expansion of our "truth" about G-d if we desire to do so.

To illustrate this truth we can think about someone who stands on top of their car in a devastating mudslide who is being rescued by Emergency Responders and is realizing a validation of their faith, assuming they have faith.  To them, G-d is a loving G-d and they are exhilarated with gratitude and joy.  But, if we think about the person who has lost their loved one who has been buried alive in the mudslide, assuming they too have faith in G-d, their faith has just had a question mark added to it.  It is difficult for the human mind to conceive of a loving G-d when disaster, especially the loss of a loved one, has taken place.  The non-believers will automatically say "where was God in this?"  But, the god of the non-believers is also a traditional idea of G-d that is limited in its definition.  The reality of the human experience is that the person who has added the question mark to their faith has been more blessed than the one who has been rescued.  This question mark causes us to go deeper in our mind and heart to realize the true nature of G-d.  On a human level this is not easy as we may believe that we are immortal but in our human experience we have only seen evidence of mortality as the physical appearance of life and death.  We are immortal beings created in the nature of Infinite Spirit, Intelligence and Power.  We live because G-d lives through us.  We are intelligent because G-d Intelligence causes us to be so.  We have power but it is not the power of mortal humans but the Power of mind or spirit within us.

The Psalmist gave us insight into our experience of G-d when we read, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."  This "shadow of death" is uncertainty and this "rod and staff" are "truth" ... truth, perhaps unknown in the moment but the path has opened up for a greater consciousness of it, a greater understanding and a greater experience of G-d.  I refer back to the words of Dr. Raymond Charles Barker, "the greater your sense of God, the greater your life will be" ... until we develop within our mind and heart this desire for a greater sense of G-d then we will never realize the comfort of knowing that the unconditional love of G-d can never be questioned.

Dr. Barker gives us something to think about and contemplate with these words:
"This present universe is the Kingdom of Heaven, and all we do is to clear away our misconceptions of It until we see It as It really is.
In the Gospel of Mark which is one of the least religiously defiled Gospels, the Master Mind Jesus taught that "the kingdom of Heaven is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel" ... in other words, know that we are living, right now, in the only Heaven we will ever know, repent means to give up all thoughts and ideas that contradict this "good news" and begin to live as though it is the truth.  Realize now that G-d responds to our thoughts, our words, our intentions by "corresponding" to that which we believe to be true.  Begin now to call forth from within your mind, your heart and your soul the prosperous life.  Call forth prosperous health, prosperous happiness, prosperous success and prosperous wealth and realize that G-d "is" corresponding to you and will open the way for the good desires of your heart to be made manifest with grace and ease.

From Dr. Barker (modified):  "G-d is the health of all people.  We are made in the image and likeness of G-d.  Therefore, this must include perfect or perfected health, vitality, strength and normal activity.  G-d is our unfailing, permanent and perfect supply.  We do not work for a living, we work for the glory of G-d and the good of all people.  There is no lack, no limitation ... repent, give up these false ideas.  G-d's money is ours to use for good and let us use it now with pleasure and wisdom.  We live in abundance, let's rejoice in plenty, and be prosperous in all our ways.  Treat yourself to the prosperous life."

Keep the faith!
