Our first thought
when we pray is to recognize God, and we do this by thinking about what
God Is. God Is Life. God Is Mind. God Is Spirit. God
Is Truth. And Life, Mind, Spirit and Truth are Omnipresent,
Omnipotent and Omniscient; All Presence, All Power and All Knowing ...
Infinite Presence, Infinite Power and Infinite Intelligence. This
is why it is never necessary to get into the details of how our prayers
are to be answered. When we think or say how our good must come,
we are outlining ... in other words, we are telling God, Infinite
Intelligence what to do. This never works. How this Infinite
Mind gathers the people, the resources and creates the conditions for
our good to materialize in our experience is beyond our human awareness.
Whenever we attempt to play God by saying how
our good shall come or who it shall come through, we are, in the words
of Emerson, not "getting our bloated nothingness out of the
way." We don't know our highest and greatest good. We
only have the awareness of fragments of it ... for "we don't know
all that is known." Think about this. We may be praying
that we get a job in a certain company not knowing that the company will
be filing for bankruptcy in a few months. Or we may be praying
that God brings us together in a soul-mate relationship with someone,
not knowing that this person has personality traits that are totally
unacceptable to us, but we haven't become aware of them yet. Our
part in the process of the unfoldment of our heart's desires and
ambitions, is to trust in the Infinite to bring together that which is
for our highest good. Pray for the great job or to realize our
life's purpose ... or to come together with our soul-mate ... meditate
on it, visualize it, contemplate it ... get a sense of knowing that
these things are ours ... this is our part; leave the details of how and
when ... to God.
Our part in the process of unfoldment of our
good is to develop the consciousness of knowing that all things work to
our good. Dr. Holmes tells us in The Science of Mind, "Prayer
is not an act of overcoming God's reluctance, but should be an active
acceptance of his willingness.
" In other words, Life is for us ... we can say "yes to
Life" ... knowing that our good can unfold in ways totally unknown
to us and in the most unexpected ways. Our mind must be open to
the Divine results; that which brings us greater joy, greater peace,
greater harmony, greater success, and greater abundance. We must
be willing to clear from our mind all things that limit us ... be they
person, place or thing.
From Dr. Frank Richelieu: "There is
a miracle Power working through you and this power knows no limitation
or stopping place. It does not hurry. It does not push and
shove, but keeps constantly and steadily surging forward, opening worlds
before it and leaving worlds behind it. The Infinite ever entices
us and draws us onward to discover more. ... Whether you fully
understand this miracle Power or not, you can know enough about it to
enrich your life in every way. You can prove to yourself that this
Power works by means of you. Remind yourself often of this Power.
Know that it is within you and all around you. Know that it is
constantly healing and blessing you. Know that it is leading you
toward greater satisfaction and accomplishment. Through
consciously using this Power you can change your life. You can let
go of that which is hindering you and impress your subconscious mind
with that which you desire."
Okay, what now? Now,
is the time for us to trust in God, Infinite Spirit ... to rest in the
assurance that this Power will prove Itself to us. I know
that there is a Power within you, and within me, that does not let
anything distract us from the good that we desire to experience ... so
no matter what conditions or circumstances we may find ourselves in
today, it's okay, because we begin right where we are ... our
consciousness of "life is good, all the time" draws to us all
the good that we can imagine for ourselves.
