Matthew 5:44 But *I* say unto you, Love your enemies, [bless those who curse you,] do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who [insult you and] persecute you, 45 that ye may be [the] sons of your Father who is in [the] heavens; for he makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust. 46 For if ye should love those who love you, what reward have ye?   - The Radical Rabbi Jesus

"Do good to those who hate you......." this is one of the most radical statements the Master Teacher Jesus gave us, and truly it is a statement that can "Save Us."   Jesus gave this statement to people who were living under the Law of an "Eye for an Eye."  And even today in the Year 2001, there are many who follow this same pagan belief that revenge and retaliation is justified.  These statements infuriated the religious and the non-religious of Jesus' time.  Why?  Because it called All of Us to a Higher Truth than most of us, in our Human condition, want to be called to.  Jesus knew that no person acts of his own volition when he acts in an ungodly manner - he is merely acting through the collective consciousness of fear, hate and anger.  He is but an "effect" of a consciousness that persists in believing in an "Eye for an Eye."  Jesus insisted that this must not continue as he knew this Law perpetuated the very hatred, anger and fear that it ignorantly attempted to eliminate.

But most of us continue to ignore the words of Jesus and many in the Religious community still point the blame at a "Devil" and thereby letting us off the hook for our own responsibility to fervently work for peace.  Each of us by our acts and words of anger, fear and hatred contribute to the consciousness that creates violence and terrorism.  Our government leaders, like many of the Religious leaders, want to point the blame to a Devil (terrorist).  It is not a Devil that is our enemy and it is not the terrorist - it is our own willingness to ignore a Powerful Spiritual Law.  How many more wars, how many more acts of terrorism must we experience before we get it?   Emerson wrote that to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result is the definition of insanity.  Jesus would have agreed with him.  We must work to right the wrongs and to bring forth peace on earth, but everything in a Spiritual Universe is dependent upon the "spirit" in which we do it.  We must stop the terrorism, we all understand that, but not in a "spirit of revenge and hatred" but in a "spirit of knowing that God Is Peace" and this Peace must be made manifest!

When we pray for our enemies, we are praying for ourselves, for we are One.  Our enemies are our hatreds, anger, resentments and bitterness.  We must forgive - give up -  the anger, resentments, hatreds and fears that we send out into the collective consciousness that then creates these experiences.  Hatred and violence is Divinely outmatched only when we call on the Divine through our prayers and
"Love our enemies, [bless those who curse us,] do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who [insult us and] persecute us..."  ...... until we do we will continue to see acts of terrorism and war.  Let's pray that the consciousness of fear, hatred and anger is dissolved by the Divine Love that Is God.  Let's be an instrument through which the Light dissolves the darkness.  LET'S LEAD THE WORLD TO PEACE!

 And So It Is!

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall.   Think of it ... always." - Mahatma Gandhi

"We will not resort to violence, we will not degrade ourselves with hatred.  We will return good for evil, we will love our enemies...Christ showed us  the way and Gandhi in India showed it could work."--Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
