"Do
not rage against, corrupt politicians; if it were not for politicians we
should fall into anarchy, and your opportunity would be greatly
lessened. God has worked a long time and very patiently to bring
us up to where we are in industry and government, and He is going right
on with His work. There is not the least doubt that He will do away with
plutocrats, trust magnates, captains of industry, and politicians as
soon as they can be spared; but in the meantime, behold they are all
very good. Remember that they are all helping to arrange the lines of
transmission along which your riches will come to you, and be grateful
to them all. This will bring you into harmonious relations with the good
in everything, and the good in everything will move toward you.

D. Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich
Wallace
D. Wattles wrote the words above in 1910, as a caution to us not to let
the negativity of politics distract us from demonstrating success and
wealth in our lives. Dr. Holmes wrote in 1926 that we get what we
think about 51% of the time. In other words, we may meditate,
pray, read spiritual information, but if our thoughts 51% of the time is
consumed with negative thinking, we will manifest negatives in our
experience. Both of these great teachers gave us this insight in
an age very different from the 24-hour cable news stations and the
access to news and information available on the Internet of today.
Negativity is inherent in politics. First
of all, it divides us ... first by political party and then within the
party. Here in the United States we have a two-party system that
gets most of the attention, although there are other parties that get on
the ballots in many states. So, we divide up between Democrats and
Republicans ... and then we divide up again; Reagan Democrats
(conservative), Clinton Democrats (moderate), Liberal Democrats and just
Democrats ... same thing happens within the Republican Party ... we
divide up into social conservatives, economic conservatives and just
conservatives. We can all see how these divisions separate us from
the Good ... Good, or God, is never separate ... but unified as One.
The path to spiritual One-ness is not a political one.
The
work of the politician is to attract as many people as possible to their
candidacy. And in doing so, they must "distract us from our
own personal goals and aspirations" and get us to focus on theirs.
And most attempt to accomplish this by tying their political goals to
our personal goals ... and attempt to persuade us that we can accomplish
our goals ... only if they accomplish theirs. They will give us
more money ... greater opportunities for success ... and greater
benefits such as education and healthcare ... in other words, they
attempt to convince us that we are dependent on them to attain these
things. And for some people, this becomes their truth ... not
realizing that consciousness is everything ... no matter who may be in
Congress or the White House.
The political Blogs and news Blogs on the
Internet are filled with comments from people who espouse their
confidence in their candidate of choice ... and far too much negativity
towards the candidates they oppose. Most of these comments are
anonymous ... but as we know there is "consciousness"
unfolding no matter how anonymous someone may believe themselves to be.
The news services and political Blogs all too often focus on the
negative which almost guarantees them thousands of comments filled with
negativity and protests. People send negative emails to the people
on their email lists containing lies, half-truths and character
assassinations ... not realizing that they are building a consciousness
of negativity that cannot produce anything but its own likeness.
The Internet as a powerful tool of communication is being used to create
discord, divisiveness and for certain negative consequences. The
collective consciousness in the United States will determine who gets
elected to political office ... just as it does in all countries with
elections. What is believed and accepted in this collective
consciousness will determine what we get!
Political participation that moves us away from
a positive outlook and confidence in the Good, will not benefit us.
As we focus on the Good, the positive aspirations and ideas presented by
politicians, and keep our thoughts focused on what we want ... not what
we don't want ... we will not be distracted from our Good ... but
instead, will reinforce the Good in our own personal lives as well as
for all others.
Especially
in regards to politics, it is important for us not to lose sight of the
Source of our Good, God. Politicians can promise us the moon and
the stars ... and more ... but they are not the Source of our Good.
And we do not lose our Good based on elections. Our Good comes
from within our own consciousness, through our awareness of the
All-Good, God. The perils of politics is believing that our Good
is ever dependent on anything other than God!
AND
SO IT IS!
Keep
the faith!
