“All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have
not seen.”
―
Ralph Waldo Emerson
We have have
read or heard that nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it
so and unfortunately for many people their thoughts are effected
by impulse. Note that I did not write "affected" but
"effected" and this is has become an issue for so many people
who want to move-through some situation, circumstance or
challenge in their lives. So many of our thoughts are
derived from past experiences and are so habitual that it is not
always easy for our conscious mind to be aware of the difference
between impulsive thoughts and compulsive thoughts.
Impulsive thoughts become words in our mind and words have
power. Impulsive thoughts by their nature are poorly
conceived. When we act on impulse we often fail to
consider the consequences of our thoughts, words and actions.
And at times, these impulsive thoughts, words and actions are
inappropriate. We know there is power in our words.
Allowing ourselves to think on impulse rather than compelling
ourselves to examine our thoughts about the issues and
circumstances that we face is the prime cause of much of the
undesirable outcomes that we experience in life. In other
words, we use our power against our very self.
How
often do we think about the words that we use? When we are
a child developing our vocabulary we gave thought to our words.
As adults, most people fail to consider the words that they use
on a day to day basis. How often have we had people who
gossip tell us "I just hate to gossip, but ...."? Or some
such talk. These types of statements are very common and
most of us have used them or similar statements to some degree.
They do not benefit us.
In the scriptures we can read, "In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with G-d, and the Word was G-d."
Now those of the Christian faith will tell us that "the Word was
made flesh" and this "flesh" was the man Jesus. But, an
infinite G-d does not "made" anything individual. G-d is
"individualized" within every living thing. And as
Augustine revealed in a flash of inspiration "G-d loves each of
us as if there was only One of us" and this is the truth that we
realize when we examine the Nature of the Infinite. To
pull this back to our subject regarding impulsive thoughts,
words and actions, we can recognize that there is "Power" in our
words and so we must put "power" in our thoughts since our
thoughts precede our words and our words shall become visible in
our experiences. This is not rocket science. It is
merely a universal causation of the Infinite Spirit working
through the minds of mankind. It is the "unseen" action
that is always taking place spontaneously within our individual
and collective experiences.
All legitimate spiritual
teachings give us "tools"; i.e. affirmations, scientific prayer,
spiritual mind treatment, contemplative practices and
meditation, to develop our awareness of our thoughts which
precede our words which precede our actions.
Keep the Faith!
