On page 135, of this wonderful book,
"Think Yourself Rich," Dr. Murphy writes, "The Bible
gives us the answer: Choose you this day whom ye will serve
(Joshua 24:15)." And he reminds us that the key to health,
wealth, prosperity, and success in life lies in our wonderful capacity
to make decisions. The greatest discovery we can make, Dr. Murphy
writes, is to awaken to the great truth that there is an infinite wisdom
and power already established within us. It can enable us to solve
all our problems and become wealthy, happy, joyous, and free ... and he
gives this great emphasis as he continues to write, "you were born
to win ... you are equipped with all the powers of God within you to
make you master of your fate and captain of your destiny."
Most of us have learned to make decisions based on
events, conditions, or situations that we find ourselves in. Yet,
we have always had the capacity to choose from, what Dr. Murphy calls,
"the Kingdom of Heaven within" ... which is the Presence of
God lodged in our deeper mind. When we choose based on externals;
conditions, circumstances, etc. ... we actually give power to them
unconsciously. By choosing to not be distracted by externals, we
hold onto our power and make greater use of the Power of God within us.
For many of us, we have been taught to be decisive ... not to
procrastinate. But, I will suggest to you that it is important to
think through our decisions and choices; to make decisions that mean
something to us. To choose based on not just what is good for us,
but that which is good for as many others as possible as well. The
more universal our choices and decisions, the more they are in tune with
the Infinite ... in other words, the more people who benefit from the
Good we desire, the more powerful our prayers and treatments.
To demonstrate money effectively, most of us
need to put our consciousness on surveillance to insure that our
thoughts and words are always in alignment with the wealth and success
that we desire to experience. I received a telephone call from a
man this week who owns a business that is struggling to make it, he
informed me. He told me he had been out working so hard to try and
make some money just to make ends meet but that everywhere he went
people tried to cheat him and refused to pay even a reasonable price for
the goods he was selling. "Why are there so many cheap
#@%!!#% in the world?" he asked. Then he said to me,
"have you heard of "The Secret?" ... and I replied that I
have read the book and it has some very good ideas in it. And he
said, "Oh, I know, it is changing my life!"
Books do not change our lives anymore than
teachers do. We can read book after book, go to lecture after
lecture ... and never experience an increase in our happiness, health,
success, prosperity or money. Books and teachers give us ideas,
but it is up to us to put these ideas into practice. And we put
them into practice first in our mind; creating the thoughts and ideas
that increase our awareness of the infinite Good that is ours to
experience. I know for many of you this appears to be repetitive
... and perhaps it is ... but unless we have evidence in our lives that
our Good is increasing, we need to take these ideas into our
consciousness once again. We must always meet Life right where we
are ... and there is no shame in knowing where we are ... as a matter of
fact, whenever we can look at the conditions and circumstances in our
lives and realize that they are the "effects" of our
consciousness, at that moment, we begin the movement toward that which
is greater. As it is written in the Bible, "it came to
pass" ... nothing remains the same as long as we are willing to
change our mental attitude about whatever it is that we want to pass.

"Think," begins with .... "You better think (think)
... Think about what you're tryin' to do to me ... Think... let your
mind go let yourself be free" ... We
can "think ourselves rich" ... we have the power within us to
do it ... and we are the only one who does anything to us. Choose
to be rich. Make the decision today that rich is what you are.
The greatest "secret" in all the world is that God dwells
within us. And as we "think" wealth within our mind, we
find wealth in our experiences.
