“God
loves each of us as if there were only one of us.” —
Saint Augustine
This statement by Saint Augustine, like so much of philosophy, holds
different meanings for different people. Since he studied the
philosophies of Socrates and Plato, we can realize that this statement
was taking us out of the realm of religious conclusions to something
more far-reaching. It speaks to the universal nature of the
Infinite without a doubt although I don't believe Saint Augustine
himself was ready to cast off the limitations of religion entirely in
order to fully realize the profound effects of this revelation of
Truth that moved through his mind.
The
Master Mind Jesus' instruction to "look to Nature" to
understand the nature of G-d tells us that he too, believed this to be
the Truth. Yet, here we are over a thousand-plus years after
Saint Augustine and Jesus and the world is still wrapped up in
religions that defy the Intelligence of G-d's perfect Law; the nature
of which is universal. In simple terms, G-d's love for all of us
is the same no matter what we may do, what we may have or what we
are being. There are no saints and sinners, no one is favored
and no one escapes the law or cause and effect, or sowing and reaping
as the Master Mind Jesus explained it, without a full and complete
realization of the Power of G-d to make all things good; even good out
of evil. Mankind is incapable of doing this without the grace of
G-d. As Saint
Augustine stated with profound wisdom: "Miracles
are not contrary to nature, but only contrary to what we know about
nature."
Socrates
wrote: "He that grieves much
is a magnet for attracting waste of property."
In other words, negative and morbid thoughts "cause" loss as
they are out-pictured in our experiences. Self-pity, resentment,
blame are all morbid thoughts that deny the Law that G-d works all
things to our good. We can't afford negative thoughts, morbid
thoughts or to let our mind dwell on those things that create lack and
loss and ill health. Whatever we "join together" within
our mind shall become the "cause" of our experiences and
this no one can deny.
And so we must
consider what does all this mean to us as we seek to experience a
greater state of health, of prosperity, of success, of creative
expression, of loving and friendly relationships? It means that
we must learn to "condition" our mind to accept and believe
that we have the power within us to receive these things without
stress or struggle. Far too many of us have allowed the world
beliefs in material power to exploit our lack of understanding of the
nature of G-d. Religion has created "tribes" that are
little different than the primitive tribal associations of centuries
past causing people to believe in those things that separate us from
G-d and from each other; and all too often to actually contradict the
very teachings of those we profess to follow. Politics has
created blind loyalties that have caused people to support those whose
political agendas actually diminish their good. It is time not
only for mankind to awaken to our true nature but to awaken to the
true nature of G-d. There are no saints and sinners, winners and
losers, in the kingdom of G-d ... in the Spirit and in the spirit of
mankind.
Some
final words from Saint Augustine; "Faith
is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see
what you believe." We have the
power to control what it is that we believe and we have the power to
increase our faith in that which we believe through the control of our
thoughts and our words and the images that we accept as the truth in
our minds. There is no forgiveness in G-d, we control what we
"give up" and what we continue to hold in our mind and in
our thoughts. We have controlled our past, either consciously or
unconsciously, we control our present and we control our future.
And our best method of control is to realize that G-d, Infinite
Spirit, Power and Intelligence works all things to our good. It
is a universal truth ... true for you, true for me, true for everyone.
“God
loves each of us as if there were only one of us.”
AND
SO IT IS!
Keep
the
faith!
