We can read in the Book of Proverbs 4:7 "Wisdom
is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting
get understanding." And the Master Mind Jesus followed
with, "And ye
shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
And so the question throughout the ages has been, "What is
Truth?"
The
mystics have told us as they reflected the Intelligence that Is G-d
through their thoughts and words, that Truth is immutable, changeless
and eternal and most importantly universal. Cultural laws are
temporary. Moral laws momentary at best. But the Truth
that can set us free from the limitations and lack of mankind's own
making is universal; in other words, it works for all in the same way
without exception.
This is what the American
mystic Ernest Holmes wrote about Truth: "Our
conscious intelligence is as much of Life as we understand. We have
stopped looking for the Spirit, because we have found It. It is what
you are and It is what I am; we could not be anything else if we
tried. The thing that we look with
is the
thing we have been looking for.
That is
why it is written: “I have said, ye are gods; and all of you are
children of the most High.” (Psalms 82:6) We have stopped looking
for the Law. We have found It. In the Universe, we call It Universal
Subjectivity or Soul. In our own experience, we call It the subjective
state of our thought, which is our individual use of Universal Law. We
have found the Law and demonstrated It. We find that both the Law and
the Spirit are Limitless. What is it we need for greater freedom?
Nothing but a greater realization of what we already know.
We should never
hesitate to say that we know the Truth, because we do, for the
realization of the Unity of God and man is
the
Truth. We simply need a greater realization of
this. How
are we to get it? Only by penetrating deeper and yet deeper into our
own Divine Nature — pushing further and further back into the
Infinite. Where
are we to
do this? THERE IS NO PLACE EXCEPT WITHIN THAT WE CAN DO IT. Who
is to do
it for us? NO ONE. No one can. Others can "pray for us";
they can set the Law in motion for us and help us to become
prosperous. This is both good and
helpful,
but the evolution of the individual — the unfoldment of personality,
the enlightenment of the soul, the illumination of the spirit — can
come only to the degree that the individual himself purposes to let
Life operate through him, “Let this Mind be in you which was also in
Christ Jesus.” (Phil.
2:5) This is the Mind of God — the only Mind — the Supreme
Intelligence of the Universe.
The answer to every question is within man, because man is
within
Spirit, and Spirit is an Indivisible Whole! The solution
to every
problem is within man; the healing of all disease is within man; the
forgiveness of all sin is within man; the
raising
of the dead is within man; Heaven is within man. This is why Jesus
prayed to this indwelling “I am” and said: “Our Father (I AM)
which art in Heaven,” and again he said: “The Kingdom of Heaven is
within
you."
It is an eternal
Truth that what one can do all can do. When we allow the
concepts of superior and inferior cloud our mind we lose sight of this
Truth. When we look to people rather than to the Spirit for our
guidance and direction we are "being of the world" and at
some point in time we shall find ourselves without. It is up to
us to accept and believe for ourselves that all that we will ever need
to know is within our own mind. In no other way can we realize
the reflection of G-d's image and likeness within and in and through
all people, places and things in our world.
Here are some
words from Charles Fillmore to meditate upon: "As
the principle of music moves through tones, so does the principle of
mind (Spirit) move through ideas. Therefore God, as Principle,
moves through the expressed thought of Divine Mind."
Our
purpose in life is to reflect the nature of G-d. To think
Intelligence ... not intelligently, but to know that we have available
to us all the Intelligence in the universe. The Intelligence
that guarantees us success, prosperity, happiness and peace of
mind. This is the Truth that we must know in order to fulfill
our desires for the greater things still. The enlightened mind
is not passive but actively focused on seeing the reflection of
G-d/Good in all people and in all things. And the more we
"recognize" and "identify" with this Divine
reflection the more good we shall experience in our lives.
Why? Because that which we are seeking is seeking us.
Principle moves through our mind just as it does Divine Mind
out-picturing in our experience that which we recognize as the
Truth. We already know this on the subjective level of our mind
... all we must do is elevate the Truth to our conscious mind ... and
we shall be free of anything that obstructs our good desires from
being made manifest with grace and ease.
AND
SO IT IS!
Keep
the
faith!
