"Until we awake to the fact that we are One
in nature with God, we shall not find the way of life. Until we
realize that our own word has the power of life, we will not see
clearly."

The Science of Mind
Most
of us have learned that we are to "say what we mean and mean what
we say" ... but few of us learned that our words have power and we
can use the power of words for our Good. The most powerful words
are those that direct the mind towards something definite and good ...
and even more powerful are the words that "use" the power of
G-d within each of us, "I am." Yet, these two words can
be used for the good or for that which is not. In the use of these
words our inherent ability to "choose" becomes of utmost
importance, as the words "I am" are a universal spiritual
principle. It works the same for everyone, everywhere.
In the scriptures we can read that our Creator
endowed us with dominion and authority over the things that concern us.
This dominion and authority is activated with the words, "I
am." No one can say these words for us and therefore no one
or no thing has power over us unless we give it. The word
"me" is also part of this dominion and authority. Our
realization of this dominion and authority associated with the words
"I am" ... energizes our words substantially. Realizing
that we are "using" the power of the Infinite, for most of us,
makes us more "conscious" of the impact of the words that we
use.
As we use these powerful words in our prayers
and spiritual treatments with the realization that we are
"using" this universal, scientific, power of the Infinite,
intelligently for the good for ourselves, but also for the good for all,
we shall always receive the good we seek, or something better.
There is no limitation in Spirit, and there is no limitation in our use
of the words, "I am" ... except for the limitations we set
personally by our faith and beliefs. The Master Mind Jesus knew
that when he used the word "I" or "me" he was being
compelled by the Spirit to use the power that is ours to use. The
radical Jesus was bold in his use of these words; "I am the light
of the world" and "I and the Father are one" ... and this
incensed those less enlightened than him. But, he knew that he was
speaking to Something Greater than himself, that infinite "I"
within All of Life.
Every day is a new beginning for all of us.
We can discover this power within us only as we make use of it. As
we let go of the limitations that we have learned and the things of the
world such as blame and shame, we will find ourselves being compelled to
speak our word for the good we desire with confidence and assurance
knowing that as we do, we are affirming the truth about ourselves and
our conditions. Jesus was radical in his use of these words
defying all those who just "didn't get it" ... he "got
it" and
demonstrated it.
Dr. Ernest Holmes writes in his booklet,
"Lessons in Spiritual Mind Healing": "Consciously
or unconsciously, we are always using First Cause, because, we are
always impressing some idea upon It. If, then, we find negation in
our lives, we must reverse our process of thinking ... We must bring our
unconscious thought action under control of conscious volition.
This is the only way we can determine our destiny."
This "First Cause" that Dr. Holmes
refers to, is G-d, Infinite Intelligence ... we personalize It with
"I am" or "me" ... just as the radical Jesus did.
Each time we use these words we are making "impressions" on
not just our subconscious mind, but also on the One Mind, which responds
to these impressions automatically and immediately. Does this seem
too unbelievable? It's not any less believable than our belief in
the law of gravity responding to everyone in the same way and in the
same nature everywhere. We cannot see this Law of G-d work with
our physical eyes, but then neither do we see the law of gravity work
with our physical eyes ... we only see the effects of these laws.
This speaks to the statement by the radical Jesus to "be in the
world but not of the world" ... the world view, all too often, is
one based on what we see with our eyes ... not what we see with our
faith.
Let
us begin to be "radical" with our use of the words "I
am" ... just as the radical Jesus did ... let us know that our
words are Spirit speaking through us ... as us, and for us ... and for
the good of all, in all that we do. This is the way for radical
change in the conditions that we are experiencing ... it is the way in
which we can radically open doors of opportunity for ourselves ... it is
radical in the most powerfully positive way ... "I am is that Great
I am" in me and in you and in everybody ... this is our way to a
wonderful life!
AND
SO IT IS!
Keep
the faith!
