Too often people are stopped from achieving what they desire
because they think the odds are against them. This phrase is
actuality one of those negative thoughts that has been so
persistent in people’s minds that it is part of the Collective
Consciousness. And this is why so many people tend to accept it
as a reality for themselves because it is so pervasive. It is
one of those phrases that Reverend Ike referred to when he said
people should get their “buts” out of the way; “I could have
been a success at this “but” … “the odds were against me.” I
think we all understand how this can easily obstruct people and
cause them to accept failure.
The basketball legend Kobe Bryant had this to say
about failure:
"When we are saying this cannot be accomplished, this cannot be
done, then we are short-changing ourselves. My brain, it
cannot process failure. It will not process failure.
Because if I have to sit there and face myself and tell myself,
"You're a failure," I think that is a worse, that is almost
worse than death."
He is absolutely right. Thinking failure or the
odds are against us creates a state of mind that accepts failure
or at least disillusionment to the degree that we are stopped
from moving forward to achieve our good desires. If we want to
achieve success in whatever it is that we desire to experience,
we must put our consciousness on surveillance and displace these
negative ideas with those which are more powerfully directed
towards the good. As Ernest Holmes wrote, “thoughts are things”
… as thoughts create our state of mind, our self-image, and our
ability to remain focused.
We all have the ability to self-create a state
of mind that obviates failure and odds against us. Let’s take a
look at this statement from Michael Bloomberg, he is quoted as
saying:
“Life is too short to spend your time avoiding failure.”
And that’s a fact. We can never fail in the Spirit.
So, let us make a commitment to focus on our good and let the
world call it what they will.
Keep the Faith!
