Most of us have not been taught from an early age to "listen for
G-d" and this is true for most of us because our parents were
not taught to do so either. Rare are the people who have
learned from an early age the practical wisdom that can be
gained from learning to listen for G-d.
I was so impressed with a spiritual practitioner at one time who
has now transitioned to the Great Beyond, who related to me a
session she had with a client for spiritual counseling.
The woman had come to her because she was in fear that she was
going to not inherit the house her parents owned. A
home she grew up in and loved. She was worried that she
would lose the house to her cousins who lived near her parents
in their later years and had become quite close with her widowed
mother while she had lived several states away and had not
visited her mother as often as she felt she should have.
She assured my friend that she knew she would not be left out of
her mother's will but she feared that she would not receive the
house. My friend asked her to sit silently while she
prayed but the woman, after only a few seconds, would ask her a
question and this repeated for several minutes. The woman
heard what my friend said but she did not listen with any real
conviction. My friend said she would pray with her but it
was of utmost importance that she begin the practice of sitting
in the silence for at least a few minutes morning and night
until she arrived mentally at the point of conviction. At
that, the woman stood up, pulled five One-Hundred Dollar bills
from her purse and handed them to my friend and said, "I don't
have time to do that, please do it for me." My friend
being a woman of great integrity, handed the bills back to her
and told her she could not accept the money. The woman
asked her why? ... and my friend told her in the most
compassionate way she could that what G-d is going to do for you
G-d must do through you. We have to listen for that "still
small voice" if we truly desire to use the power, intelligence
and wisdom available to us.
Please take a few minutes to read the following taken from "A
Course in Miracles" and then sit in the silence with this
information in your mind:
"It is quite possible to listen to G-d's
Voice all through the day without interrupting your regular
activities in any way. The part of your mind in which
truth abides is in constant communications with G-d, whether you
are aware of it or not. ... The part that is listening to
the Voice for G-d, is calm, always at rest and wholly certain.
It is really the only part there is. The other part is a
wild illusion, frantic and distraught, but without reality of
any kind. Try today not to listen to it. Try to
identify with the part of your mind where stillness and peace
reign forever." [I purposely
changed the spelling of G-d from the original text from ACIM]
Throughout the ages those who have obtained a spiritual
consciousness have "listened" for that "still small voice."
As we have read in this excerpt from "A Course in Miracles" we
can train our mind to be aware of this Voice for G-d even when
we are at our busiest. I know this as the truth and as a
fact.
Keep the Faith!
