"....Jesus summed up His whole philosophy in this simple
statement: "It is done unto you as you
believe." The great Teacher looked so deeply into
Nature, that She revealed Her fundamental simplicity to Him. That "believe"
and that "as" symbolize heaven and
hell. And so we suffer, not because suffering is imposed upon us,
but because we are ignorant of our true nature."
Chapter 2 "The Way It Works" - Science of Mind by Ernest
Holmes
The
Way It Works. Both the Radical Rabbi Jesus
and Dr. Ernest Holmes, Founder of Religious Science and author of The
Science of Mind, stressed the importance of demonstration or the
fulfillment of the thing desired. Without the demonstration of
results our work is ineffective. The Master Mind Jesus understood
this more than any other mystic or teacher that has walked this planet.
His statement "It is done unto you as
you believe," has been identified by
Dr. Holmes as the Principle.
In other words, "as" we "believe" that God Is All
There Is, we receive or realize Good in our life, but "as"
this belief changes with doubt, fear or frustration to the possibility
of not receiving or realizing something else, we receive the something
else.
For me, the simplest way to look at this is to
understand Principle which is clarified in the 1st
Commandment, "I am The Lord your God,
Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
You shall have no other gods before Me." Jesus
restated this to: "You shall love the Lord your God with all
your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind." To
Love in the spiritual sense, is to give our attention to. We must
give our attention to God and God only. When we give our attention
to God, we are giving our attention to the Good.
"Seek ye first
the Kingdom of God and then all things shall be added unto you,"
stated the Master
Mind Jesus. Eric Butterworth, one of the greatest of the great
metaphysical teachers and authors stated we must keep in mind an
attitude of "don't-give-a-darn-ness"
about anything that
may attempt to distract us from doing that which we desire to do.
Our desires are
"of (de) the
Father (sire)" so
if God desires something for us then it is our responsibility to depend
on God knowing that if it is God's desire for us there is nothing in
heaven or earth to stop it from happening.
We must "depend
on Principle, not person, place or thing."
Many of us are called (have desires) to do
something. Our desires for better jobs, greater prosperity,
greater health or better relationships, originate from God within us.
These ideas are God's desires for us. But often, we get distracted
by the opinions of others or we are intimidated by those who do not
accept or understand our vision. Rather
than focusing on moving forward with our idea, we get stopped by the
people around us, worrying if we are going to upset or offend their
fragile egos. But,
all too often the very people we are so worried about offending or
upsetting are the first to criticize us when we fail or end up
accomplishing much less than we could have if we had remained dependent
on Principle and none other. We
are called to something greater but then we are frozen in our doubts,
fears and frustrations and we do not meet the call. We are
"seized by the seasoned mediocrity."
In this work, I take a very different
approach to teaching Religious Science. I am teaching
Religious Science as the Religion of Jesus
and since I do not plan to have a church, I
tag myself as an Evangelist. The Principle that we teach is
credited to Jesus by Dr. Ernest Holmes and evangelist is defined as a
publisher of good news. To me it makes perfectly good sense and as
a matter of fact it is the truth and truth is what we teach in
metaphysics. A long-time teacher and minister told me that I am
wrong that Religious Science is not dependent on Jesus' teachings.
I also received a personal message from a prominent religious
organization leader asking me to remove his organization's fax number
from my press release distribution list.
What happened to "Open At The Top?"
What each implied is that I do this their
way, but their way does not support my vision, it stifles it! I
have also been told that Religious Science is confused with Christian
Science and Scientology. If this is true than those teaching
Religious Science must work harder to realize in their consciousness
that we depend on Principle, and Principle alone. Now, I do
understand that there are those who would be intimidated by the opinions
of people, but ... I know "How
It Works" ....
and "Many
are Called... but Many are Frozen" ...... does not apply to
me - and neither does it apply to you!
"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no
path and leave a trail." Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

So It Is!
